What's gotten into our Trees?
You know you have a healthy forest when there are all kinds of deer romping through. Amazingly enough after 2 months, we have only lost one or two of the 400 trees. There are a few more, though that seem mysteriously picked up and laid on the ground with the vegetation still intact.
What happened? Was a deer snacking and got interrupted? Did a deer just pull them out for sport? Is there some ground animal that likes to root around them? Or did they simply wash out. The washing out theory is certainly true for a couple because you see them about 6” down the hill, but what about the ones I see laying down up hill?
Either way, usually we catch them quick enough that we just put them back in the ground and hope for the best. Maybe they just wanted a little extra love and attention and in this case they got it!
